One reason Donald Trump has so little cash on hand may be the generosity with which he’s paying his own companies. For example, of the $838,774 the campaign spent on air charters, nearly $350,000 went to his own TAG Air.
In excess of $830,000 went for event staging and rentals. Of this, the biggest item by far was $423,317 to his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach for rental and catering. The only event I recall hearing about there was the one with his ridiculous display of Trump steaks (which actually were bought from another company), Trump wine, and other Trump-branded merchandise. Another $35,845 went to the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, FL and $29.715 went to the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. He even paid $4,000 to his son Eric’s wine company. Altogether, he spent more than $1 million to his companies, or reimbursing his family members for their travel expenses.
If I were a Republican donor and this guy was hitting me up for money, I don’t think I’d be exactly rushing to reach for my checkbook, or even the change in my pocket.
